Marriage and Family Therapy

Autism Partnership Foundation (APF) has been committed to helping individuals with autism and their families. We understand that autism does not only affect the individual barriers but also their family dynamics and relations.

In view of this, starting from 2016, Autism Partnership Foundation (APF) will provide free Marriage and Family Therapy service to the underprivileged families with children with autism.  We expect this service will empower the needy families to overcome the challenges and difficulties ASD bring them by exploring their family resilience and resources as well as restoring their family relations.

Family therapy is a branch of psychotherapy that works with individuals, couples and families from a systemic perspective. Family therapists examine the identified problems from a systemic rather from a linear perspective. Thus, target clients are not confined to only individuals with autism, but also their family members.  By improving understanding among family members, reconnecting their emotions and reconstructing the ways they interact, family members will understand better their difficulties and how presenting problems are maintained and hence can be tackled.  This is important for each family in particular families with ASD children, which usually suffer from great stress and challenges.

This service is offered by formally trained Family Therapists and supervised by American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) qualified supervisors to ensure beneficiaries receive effectively therapeutic service.

We welcome NGOs to partner with us and refer needy clients to us so that more underprivileged families can receive this service.
