1 Month Intensive Treatment

1 Month Intensive Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Treatment

Starting from 2016, Autism Partnership Foundation (APF) will provide a month of intensive Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Treatment for free to children with Autism from low income families. In Hong Kong, parents who are unable to afford private services are often required to wait for long periods of time before receiving government or subsidised services. APF will be bridging this gap by offering this critical service. This service of over 60 hours of direct intervention also includes parent education, providing training for parents so they can continue teaching their children when the service has ended.

This program is unique and the very first of its kind in Hong Kong. Currently, ABA therapy is only provided by private practices and is very expensive. APF will be helping low income families access these services when their children most need them.

In order to make full use of the resources, the Autism Partnership Foundation (APF) will make the following adjustments to our one month of intensive Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Treatment effective from 9 May, 2018:

1.      Meeting between therapist and parents

  • Prior to conducting treatment, the therapist will meet with the childs parents for around 30 minutes, instead of telephone interviews as before. The purpose is for the therapist to further understand the child’s situation. The meeting will be held in the Parents Resources Centre. Parents are requested to come, in order to facilitate formulation of the treatment content.

 2.     Reservation fees

  • Upon completion of the assessment, a reservation fee of HKD2000 will be charged. An attendance rate of 90% or over (attending 45 hours out of 50 hours) will be required for a full refund. If the attendance rate is below 90%, the reservation fee will not be refunded. The reservation fee will be refunded in cash on the last day of treatment.
  • If your child is absent due to illness, please submit a medical certificate, otherwise it will be considered an absence.

3.      Service charge

  • APF will charge a service fee based on statistics from the General Household Survey released quarterly by the Census and Statistics Department, and the total monthly income of the household. APF will charge at most 12.5% of the total monthly income, and all service charges will not be refunded. All charges will be based on the total household income at the time of application.
  • The service charge is calculated based on whether applicants’total household income reaches the median income’s:

20% or below

5% of household’s monthly income or HKD1000 (Whichever the one is lower)

10% of household’s monthly income

81%-100% 12.5% of household’s monthly income

* If the total household income is higher than the median household income, the applicant will not be eligible for this service.

4.      Asset Limit

  • APF will consider applications which the total household net asset value of the applicant does not exceed 1.5 times of the total net asset limit of public rental housing from the Hong Kong Housing Authority (https://www.housingauthority.gov.hk/en/flat-application/income-and-asset-limits/index.html).

Family size

Total Net Asset Limit of Public Rental Housing (Effective from 1 April 2022)

Accepted total household net asset limit
(not include one self-occupied property, that is, your residential address)

  • All household members aged 18 or over 18 must fill in the Asset Declaration form. Where there is no such asset of any members, please put “NIL” in the relevant space provided.
  • Household members can choose to declare their assets separately
  • If any members own domestic properties, APF will consider the application depends on the occupancy position of the properties (letting out / self-occupied / vacant / others).

Children will receive a month of intensive 1:1 ABA treatment from our professionally trained therapists. These therapists will also be overseen and supervised by a behavioral analyst superviser. In addition, consultants from Autism Partnership Hong Kong and Aoi Pui School will also provide free consultations to the APF therapy team to ensure the best results.

Curriculum will be highly individualised, from increasing spontaneous language, cooperation and attention to reducing behaviour problems, and from enhancing cognition and language skills to play and social skills.

Parental Continuity

On completion, parents will also be given a comprehensive list of objectives that their children can continue to work on in the coming months.

Parental Expertise

In addition to providing treatment for children, we will be working closely with each family to ensure effective teaching will be carried onwards when the children complete the program. We will achieve this through parent seminars and participation in our treatment sessions. Parents will be encouraged to work directly with their children in some of the sessions where guidance and direction will be provided from AP therapists.
